Forklift Training

Course details
Operating forklift trucks is a specialised skill. Many accidents are caused by untrained drivers operating trucks in ignorance of the special conditions that apply to forklifts.
This five day course day course is designed for beginners with little experience, who receive a certificate of qualification at the end of course, provided they achieve the required standard in theoretical and practical tests.

A confidential assessment of each operators abilities is also provided. HSA guidance outlines that drivers trained on one type of truck require conversion training if they are to operate a different type of truck. This course is designed to equip an operator with a valid operatiors certificate on a particular type of forklift (e.g. Counterbalance or Reach), with the skills necessary to drive the Alternative truck.

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given. Please let us know if participants have any specific learner requirements.

New drivers or drivers with little experience and no certification.

None.

Assessment Certification
Participants complete a theoretical and practical exam. On successful completion of the exam, participants are awarded an IIPMM forklift operators beginner certificate. The candidate is registered on a central IIPMM database. Certificates are valid for three years and must be refreshed before that time is up...


Forklift Instructor Training Course

Course details
This highly sought after course is suitable for experienced and certificated drivers who wish to qualify to instructor level. On successful completion of the course participants can register as IIPMM (Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management) Instructors and are also permitted to oversee examinations and subsequently issue IIPMM certificates.
The course takes place over 10 day days and the programme requires significant study. The ideal candidate should have sufficient experience and skill in operating a forklift truck and be confident of his/her course delivery skills. The course is externally examined by an IIPMM examiner.

Objectives

Who should attend?
Potential candidates must be highly skilled operators and have broad experience along with formal training in operating the type of truck on which they are expected to instruct e.g. Counterbalance or Reach.

Pre-Course requirements

  • Candidates must have a current and valid Forklift operators certificate and must have received formal operator refresher training within the 12 months prior to attending the Forklift Instructor course 
  • Candidates must have several years Forklift driving experience

Assessment/Certification
Participants complete a theoretical and practical exam. On successful completion of the exam, participants are awarded an IIPMM Forklift Instructor Certificate.
